Violinist Terra Warger is an innovative musician who performs internationally, premiers new music, and cultivates a musical interest in audiences young and old.
Ms. Warger's well-balanced foundation and background make her a versatile musician with experience in many different genres of music. Early in her career, she became interested in new music, working closely with composers and collaborating with other musicians to create new, exciting concert experiences. She has premiered new pieces for solo violin, for violin and piano, for string quartet, for small ensemble, and multi-media ensembles across the country. In 2015, Ms. Warger performed and recorded 'Feng' for solo violin (1998, originally for solo cello) by Lei Liang (b. 1972).
Ms. Warger has received instruction from and performed with major chamber music ensembles, such as the Peabody Trio, the St. Lawrence String Quartet, the Jupiter String Quartet, the Brentano String Quartet, the Tokyo String Quartet, the Emerson String Quartet, and the Arianna String quartet. She has participated in educational outreach program fundraisers in the United Kingdom, including the Bromley Youth Music Trust in London.
Ms. Warger has performed under the baton of influential conductors, including Christopher Seaman, Leonard Slatkin, Murry Sidlin, and Gustav Meier. In 2015, she began a recording project with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra in the recording of KevinPuts' Flue Concerto, conducted by Marin Alsop.
Terra Warger has received a Graduate Performance Diploma in Violin Performance, as well as a Masters' degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. She has a Bachelors of Music from Arizona State University. Her primary teachers and mentors include Violaine Melançon, Rebecca Henry, and Katherine McLin. Ms. Warger plays on a 1994 Samuel Zygmuntowicz violin and a bow by Rodney Mohr.
